ONE IN THREE SCOTS OBESE

OBESITY in Scotland has hit record levels - with the rise coming as the number of people worried about running out of food rose to its highest proportion.

The 2023 Scottish Health Survey found 32 per cent of adults were obese, up from 24 per cent in 2003 to the highest since the survey began.

It said for 2022 and 2023 combined just under two-thirds of Scots were at increased health risk based on their body mass index and waist size.

Obesity is linked to a range of health problems, including type 2 diabetes, asthma and high cholesterol.
