ROAD TO HELL

SCOTLAND'S return to work and school after the festive break has been labelled "Miserable Monday" by the AA, which is anticipating callouts from stranded motorists.

The Met Office has issued a yellow alert covering almost all of the country for heavy snow to cause significant disruption on the roads.

The warning begins at midnight tonight and runs until midday on Monday.

Before then, people venturing out this morning are being warned to expect treacherous conditions underfoot as overnight rain freezes before dawn.
