CHARLIE GILMOUR believes embattled Caley Thistle's underdog status can work in their favour today as they look to scalp old foes Livingston.

The financially-stricken Highlanders remain a league below their historic league rivals after twin relegations last season.

The clubs enjoyed many a ding-dong battle after gaining Scottish league entry and rising up through the divisions.

The pendulum has swung in the Lions' favour in recent years but Gilmour is convinced the gap between the sides will not be as big as some think.

The ex-Arsenal and St Johnstone midfielder said: "It's a team from a higher division, so they will be better than the teams we've been playing against in League One.
