THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE could be extended again as UEFA looks to help Europe’s rich get richer – and ward off the threat of a European Super League.

That’s the view of a leading sports finance expert ahead of a week which will see the first draw for the new 36-team format.

The tournament will feature four extra teams this season, with every club guaranteed at least eight matches.

Simon Chadwick, professor of sport and geopolitical economy at Skema Business School, believes UEFA’s tinkering is unlikely to stop there.
