They are ditching deep-fat fryers after prices rose sharply in the past year due to supply chain issues and the war in Ukraine, where most of our oil comes from.
The largest increases are in sunflower oil and vegetable oil, which are in increasingly short supply.
Half of the oil used by British fish and chip shops is from Ukraine, and businesses are now struggling with the rising costs.
