KILLER BERT HERE TO STAY

THE worst autumn storm in years will batter the UK again today after claiming its first victim.

A man in his 60s died after a tree fell on a car on the A34 near Winchester.

It happened in gales of up to 80mph as the 2,000-mile wide weather bomb brought over a foot of snow, floods and 24ft waves to the North yesterday.

Power cuts hit as roads, rail lines and airports were shut by snow.

The South was set to be buffeted today, as Bert dumps up to six inches of rain.
