GUINEAS ON AGENDA FOR SHADOW

Light show

SHADOW OF LIGHT toasted an absent friend to complete Newmarket's Middle ParkDewhurst Stakes double - and forced trainer Charlie Appleby into a change of heart.

A foot infection ruled hot favourite The Lion In Winter - Aidan O'Brien's two-year-old heads the ante-post betting for both the 2,000 Guineas and Derby next year out of the seven-furlong Group One.

The hotpot's defection left a field of five and, having raced in a trio of runners towards the far rail, Shadow Of Light and William Buick steered a path towards the stands' side to collar O'Brien's Expanded close home and score by a neck, with the winner's stablemate Ancient Truth third.
