'Giant of football’ dies three years after fellow World Cup legend Jack

THE football world was in mourning last night as it bid farewell to Sir Bobby Charlton - three years after the loss of his brother Jack.

England 1966 World Cup hero Sir Bobby died yesterday morning, just a week after his 86th birthday. It followed a three-year battle with dementia.

His older brother Jack, who was part of the same World Cup-winning team, died in 2020, aged 85. He had also suffered from the disease.
