Armed officers carried out an arrest last night in Merseyside, detaining a 36-year-old man on suspicion of Olivia’s murder and two attempted murders.
Olivia was killed and her mother Cheryl, 46, injured when a masked gunman opened fire on a man who was fleeing into their home in the Dovecot area of Liverpool on Monday night. Merseyside police had launched a massive manhunt to catch the killer, working with forces around the country, the National Crime Agency, specialist organised crime detectives, and Border Force agents, amid fears he might have fled abroad. It was revealed this morning that the murder suspect, currently in custody and being questioned by detectives, is from the Huyton area of Liverpool. Last night Olivia’s “heartbroken” family released a statement paying tribute to the nine-year-old who “loved life and all it had to offer”. “Liv was a unique, chatty, nosey little girl who broke the mould when she was born,” they said.
