Two children were killed and nine people seriously injured during the rampage at a holiday club yesterday.
In a social media post this morning, the star wrote: “The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I’m just completely in shock. The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, and first responders.
“These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”
Police were today continuing to question a 17-year-old suspect over the attack while two dance teachers were praised for trying to protect youngsters from the carnage in Merseyside.
Leanne Lucas, 35, who organised the yoga and bracelet-making party, and a fellow dance teacher were understood to have both bravely tried to shield children as the masked attacker carried out his frenzied rampage.
Ms Lucas is believed to be one of the two adults critically wounded in the attack, along with six children. All were still being treated in hospital.
