The country's motorcycle and scooter market, which is the largest in the world, saw a total of 30 launches starting April 2023, with a majority in the high-end segment.
Four models debuted with prices between ₹1 lakh and ₹1.5 lakh, while two were launched in the price range between ₹1.5 lakh and ₹2 lakh during the same period, going by the disclosures made by companies.
From nearly two-thirds just five years ago, the share of the budget bike segment (those powered by an engine of less than 110cc and a price of under ₹1 lakh) has dropped to less than one-third, according to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.
