Cong holds march to Guv house
Hindustan Times Rajasthan|December 19, 2024
The opposition Congress on Wednesday held a march to the governor's house in protest against the alleged increase in corruption and violence against women across the country under the Bharatiya Janata Party's rule.

JAIPUR:

"The situation of the country is more serious than it seems. The woes of the farmers, youth, and labourers are not stopping," said former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot. "Public properties are being sold to a few industrialists close to the top administrators of the country. BJP might have won the elections, but the Congress is the one who still represents the country by raising their issues."

During the march, Congress leaders, along with hundreds of party workers, marched towards the Raj Bhawan from the Shahid Smarak area to submit a memorandum to the governor, but they were stopped by police.

The march led to a clash between police and party workers who had allegedly tried to break the barricades to enter the governor house. "The governor house is a protected area. The police used a mild force and also water cannons to disperse the crowd considering the law and order situation. The situation is stable now," said a police official familiar with the matter.
