JAMSHEDPUR:
Driver of the SUV Rajkumar Mahato told forest officials that they saw the tiger jumping past their vehicle around 8.30 pm when they were returning to Chainpur from Chaibasa.
"We saw the tiger jumping across the Rudia-Darda road, just 500 metres from the Chandil roundabout on the Tata-Ranchi national highway (NH-18) around 8.30 pm. No sooner had I stopped the vehicle that it jumped past us. There were six passengers in my vehicle, all scared to our bones," Mahato said on Wednesday.
Mahato informed Chandil ranger Radha Raman late Tuesday night. Locals said they had spotted the tiger near Bareda village close to Chowka PS around 7 pm on Tuesday evening.
"This means the tiger has now crossed over to Chandil and might have entered the jungles in the Dalma Elephant Sanctuary," the villagers said.
