'Interference in our affairs': EAM on Canada diplomats' departure
Hindustan Times|October 23, 2023
India can consider resuming visa services for Canadian nationals "very soon" provided there is adequate security for Indian diplomats in Canada, external affairs minister S Jaishankar said on Sunday against the backdrop of a continuing diplomatic row between the two countries.

He reiterated India's contention that a move to ensure parity in diplomatic presence - which resulted in Canada withdrawing 41 diplomats from the countrywas fully in compliance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

India-Canada relations went into free fall after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged last month that Indian government agents were linked to the killing of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June.

India described the accusation as "absurd" and both sides expelled a senior diplomat each.
