In a heart-wrenching series of events, several cases of rabies-related deaths have shaken residents across India. Last month, Shahvej, a 14-year-old boy from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, succumbed to rabies one and a half months after a stray dog had bitten him. Shockingly, he had never informed his family about the attack and failed to seek the crucial anti-rabies vaccine. Another tragic case involved a five-year-old girl from Chandigarh who tragically lost her life due to severe facial wounds inflicted by a rabid dog bite. These events are not isolated, as reports from various parts of the country reveal more people, especially minors, falling victim to dog attacks, both by stray animals and pets, and videos of such incidents have emerged on social media.
