107up! for Ireland's oldest man

IRELAND’S oldest man has turned 107, with his family putting it down to him cycling everywhere until the age of 99.

Wednesday marked the birthday of Martin McEvilly, who became the oldest known living man in the country after the passing of the previous holder last August.

Martin received his seventh coin from President Michael D Higgins on the day, being one of the few people in Ireland who can claim that size of a collection.

He was born the youngest of 11 in Rosscahill, Co Galway, on July 26, 1916.
