CIARA MAGEEAN is confident her racing instincts can put her in medal contention at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

Mageean leads Irish hopes tomorrow and she says she is the most excited she has ever been heading into a major competition.

While several Irish athletes will be in action across the first day, the women's and men's 1500m will be the main focus.

Mageean apart, Ireland also has rising stars Sarah Healy and Sophie O'Sullivan - Sonia's daughter - competing in the women's heats just after midday.

Andrew Coscoran leads the way in terms of the men's challenge and has a great shot at making the final on Wednesday night.
