CALLS TO BAN SHARING SICK CRASH VIDEOS

LABOUR is calling for the sick sharing of car crashes on social media to be outlawed, with offenders fined up to €5,000 or thrown in jail for up to a year.

It comes after footage was posted online of the aftermath of the Clonmel smash in which four young people were killed at the weekend.

Labour's transport spokesman, Duncan Smith, has urged the Government to introduce a ban which would outlaw the spreading of such tragic videos.

Frontbench Minister, Catherine Martin, was talking to reporters yesterday and she indicated Government support for the proposal.
