A CRASH that claimed three lives this weekend was a second tragedy for the family of one victim.
Eve Smith, one of the three killed, lost her sister to a car accident in 2015. The family even appeared on TV calling for tougher road laws.
One of the other two killed when their car careered off a slip road was the son of former QPR and Cardiff City star Leon Jeanne. Two other people are fighting for their lives.
Friends and relatives blasted police for not finding the group sooner.
They claim it was their search party that discovered the overturned car among roadside trees, not a police helicopter. The Volkswagen Tiguan was last seen safe at 2am on Saturday, in CCTV at a Cardiff petrol station.
Relatives put out appeals later that day. They, along with police, carried out searches before the car was found.
Pals Sophie Russon, 20, and Shane Laughlin, 32, were found alive and were cut from the wreckage by firefighters just after midnight yesterday.
The three dead victims were named as Eve Smith and Darcy Ross, both 21, and Rafel Jeanne-Actie, 24.
The car apparently went unnoticed all weekend among trees and undergrowth next to the busy A48, in the St Mellons area of Cardiff.
SURGERY
Sophie and Shane were in a critical condition in hospital last night.
Sophie's mum said: "The next 48 hours are critical," as her trainee bank manager daughter had surgery.
