Speaking on Midland 103's Will Faulkner Show Mr Cowen, who was Taoiseach from 2008 to 2011, said: "I'm great, thank you very much. The length of time in hospital was a long time, 12 months is a long time.
"And things happened while I was in hospital, my mother had passed on.
