The Meath comic feared he&rsquo;d be out of a job if Tommy landed the gig after Ryan Tubridy stepped down after 14 years. Fred, 42, told how he hopes to be back working on Tommy&rsquo;s show this winter. He said: &ldquo;I hope so. I think so. Nothing surprises me but I think I am [coming back].&rdquo;
He joked if Tiernan had been offered the gig: &ldquo;I&rsquo;m so used to working with him that I would be out of a job if he does it.
&ldquo;I&rsquo;d be ringing him up saying &lsquo;Tommy, don&rsquo;t do The Late Late Show&rsquo;.&rdquo; Asked if he knew whether or not 53-year-old Tommy wanted the role, Fred admitted: &ldquo;I don&rsquo;t know. I honestly couldn&rsquo;t tell you.
&ldquo;I do think he has his own thing going on, which he is very comfortable at.&rdquo;
