TAOISEACH Leo Varadkar insisted Garda Commissioner Drew Harris will not be removed if a ballot of no confidence is passed by rank and file officers.

Garda chief has support of Taoiseach

The Garda Representative Association met with Mr Harris earlier this week to discuss concerns about an impending change to rosters.

Since the pandemic, officers have been working four 12-hour shifts followed by four days off.

Mr Harris wants to revert to an older system where they work six 10-hour shifts followed by four days off, an idea the union has rejected.
