A WOMAN whose children were murdered by the their father said she would not feel safe if he was released as he had also considered killing her.
This Saturday marks the 10th anniversary since Eoghan Chada, who was 10, died with his five-yearold brother Ruairi.
Their father Sanjeev abducted them from their home in Carlow before strangling them in Co Mayo and putting them in the boot of his car.
That came days after his wife Kathleen discovered he had embezzled around €56,000 from a local community centre.
He was sentenced to life in prison but "lifers" only serve an average of 20 years and can apply for parole after just 12.
Kathleen said: "When we get to 16 years and beyond, I will have to prepare myself for the possibility.
"I can only presume that, if he's ticking the boxes in there, there will be a point where he'll be considered not a threat to society.
"Now I still see him as a threat to me. I am part of society, but will that count?"
Soon after the murders, Kathleen found an email Chada wrote 18 months earlier, where he outlined a plan to kill her along with the boys.
She said: "I am very conscious that the thought of killing me alongside the boys had been in his mind for quite some time.
