JOE Biden has announced he will run for re-election despite fears over his age and mental fragility.
The President asked Americans to give him more time to "finish this job" and to set aside concerns about extending the run of America's oldest. president for another four years.
Mr Biden, 80, faces a smooth path to winning his party's nomination, with currently no serious Democratic rivals.
But with Donald Trump leading the race to be his Republican challenger, he's still set for a struggle to retain the presidency in the 2024 election.
The announcement came exactly four years after he launched his previous run for the White House, promising to heal the "soul of the nation".
Mr Biden said: "I said we are in a battle for the soul of America, and we still are. The question we are facing is whether in the years ahead we have more freedom or less freedom.
