Irish tourists warned over Tenerife inferno

A WARNING has been issued to Irish holidaymakers heading to Tenerife amid concern about an "out of control" wildfire.

The major blaze broke out in a national park around the Mount Teide volcano late on Tuesday night and has extended across 22km of dry woodland as of last night.

Firefighters say they are struggling to contain the inferno, which has led to evacuations from nearby villages.

Around 150 people in the villages of Arrate, Chivisaya, Media Montana, Ajafona and Las Lagunetas were evacuated yesterday.
