A TEENAGER took her own life three months after being drugged and raped on holiday in Greece, her inquest heard yesterday.
Julie Crowe, 18, from Dunshaughlin, Co Meath, died on November 4, 2019, after she developed a low mood and thoughts of self harm.
Julie's father Gary told the inquest at Dublin District Coroner's Court he had decided to work from home on that morning of November 4, 2019, as Julie had not slept.
He recalled how she had been groggy and appeared "very subdued and very detached" when he woke her at around 12.20pm.
Mr Crowe said he hugged his daughter to try to get her "out of a daze". As Julie went to have a shower, Mr Crowe said he noticed a note on her bed which he thought was part of a diary.
When he went to check on her at around 2.15pm, Mr Crowe said he could not find his daughter and he rang his wife to express concern Julie had run away.
INJURIES
At that point he remembered the note and found it contained a reference to the nearby Rathbeggan Lakes.
He went there but found Julie injured on the M3 near a bridge and then started CPR as her eyes were "glazed over".
