July rains supreme

There is still not the slightest sign of summer in what would normally be one of warmest and driest months of the year and the medium range forecast offers little hope of any sunshine.

While much of Europe swelters with record-breaking temperatures, Ireland has been battered by rain storms which has caused flooding and crop damage in some areas.

Met Eireann forecasters said the best of the weather will be early in the coming week but from midweek on it will be back to the normal pattern of wide-spread rain. Looking at the week ahead, it’s a big improvement over the weekend washout as the next two days are expected to remain relatively dry but there will still be a lot of showers.
