KEEGAN: THIS MAY NOT WORK

LEE KEEGAN says Mayo have to temper their swashbuckling style and be more boring.

Former footballer of the Year Keegan knows ‘game management’ is not in the Mayo DNA but he reckons it’s no big deal if they have to hold onto the ball for five minutes before getting a shot off.

The 33-year-old’s comments came after again seeing worrying signs from his native county in the recent Connacht quarter-final defeat by Roscommon.

When their running game was shut down, Mayo got “into a rut,” were turned over and hit on the break, with Diarmuid Murtagh making hay at the other end.

Yet Keegan still believes Mayo can win the All-Ireland.
