THE daughter of a man murdered by a double killer has called for Ireland to lock up life-sentence prisoners for their entire lives.
Property developer John Gogarty was stabbed 69 times by Ian Birley and his girlfriend Helen Nichols during a robbery at his home in England in 2015 so they could steal cash to settle a drugs debt.
Thursday is the eighth anniversary of the 65-year-old Co Meath man's brutal murder in Barnsley.
Birley was given a whole-life order, with no chance of parole, and Nichols must serve at least 20 years behind bars.
Evil Birley previously spent 18 years in prison for murder and was only released 18 months before he targeted Mr Gogarty.
The Irish victim's daughter, Nicola, who lives in Skerries, Co Dublin, believes Ireland should also introduce whole-life orders.
