Lof a wait

SOME learner drivers will have to wait until February before they can do their driving test, the Irish Mirror can reveal.

New figures, released under the Freedom of Information Act, show there's a backlog of almost 61,000 people waiting.

This means those who apply today could be waiting up to nine-and-a half months before they get called.

The longest waiting time is 41 weeks, in Dun Laoghaire/Deansgrange in Dublin, meaning learners won't be called until February.

Two other centres in Dublin are next worst, with 36 weeks in both Killester and Tallaght.
