Early arrears cases leap by 3,000 in one quarter
More falling behind on their mortgages

THERE has been a sharp rise in the number of households falling into mortgage arrears, the Central Bank has said.

New figures show that early arrears cases have increased by 3,000 in the second three months of the year compared with the same period last year.

Financial experts said when the arrears numbers are set to surge in the coming months, due to interest rate hikes over the past year.
