THE Irish wife of a dad locked up in an Iraqi jail has given new hope to his freedom bid by promising “lots of evidence” will exonerate him.
Desree Pether, 52, from Roscommon, told the Irish Mirror that Robert, 48, has been locked up in Baghdad since April 2021 in a €20million contract row between his Dubai-based employer and the Central Bank of Iraq.
She revealed yesterday that the family’s campaign has been boosted by fresh testimony from innocent engineer Robert’s employers CME.
Desree said: “There is a mountain of evidence that he is innocent.
