TOUGH wilderness expert Dane Galligan has told how he was so lost as a young man, he considered suicide.
Galligan – an adventurer dubbed the Irish Bear Grylls – advises hurling legend Davy Fitzgerald on RTE series, Davy’s Toughest Team, which ends tonight.
In the show, Davy Fitz and his crew – Galligan and coach Mattie Rice – mentor a group of troubled lads, while taking them on an extreme outdoor challenge.
Galligan told the Irish Mirror how he suffered with severe depression and anxiety since he was a teenager and was 24 before he got professional help.
He revealed: “I went undiagnosed for a long time and spent a lot of my life not understanding what the feelings were. I became the master of disguise and spent a lot of time burying it. But it was only going one way. It was going to erupt.
“At that stage, I was making sense of suicide. It was going in one direction.
