Max draws level with Senna as Lewis enjoys "great weekend"

MAX VERSTAPPEN equalled Ayrton Senna’s number of race wins with victory at the Canadian Grand Prix – but Lewis Hamilton believes Mercedes are moving in the right direction after another podium finish. 

Verstappen pulled level with the late Senna on 41 grands prix victories, as his Red Bull team secured its 100th race win.

But much of the focus here was a battle for the runner-up spot between the two former team-mates and old rivals in seven-time world champion Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.

The fight raged on from the moment Hamilton pitted for tyres in his Mercedes on lap 41.
