Our horribly inadequate last goodbye via Zoom

THE family of Cian English, who died after falling from a balcony during an armed robbery, told how saying their final goodbyes to him via Zoom calls was "horribly inadequate and distressing".

The 19-year-old's family, from Carlow, added: "Any sentence handed down will never replace the loss of our family." Lachlan Paul Soper-Lagas, 21, Hayden Paul Kratzmann 23, and 25-year-old Jason Ryan Knowles, who pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Cian, are to be sentenced today.

The trio also pleaded guilty to torturing and robbing Cian and his friend on the night he died.
