A MAJOR concert to honour the memory of Sinead O'Connor is being mooted, as her legion of devastated fans still try to come to terms with her shock death.

The new Mayor of Dublin has said authorities in the city, where Sinead was from, will have to formally recognise the legacy she has left.

However, Daithi de Roiste said yesterday it's important people first get to grieve the tragic loss of such a big star.

The iconic singer, 56, was found "unresponsive" by UK police officers in her penthouse flat in London on Wednesday.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, the Fianna Fail representative described Sinead as an "absolute icon" to the people of Dublin.

Cllr de Roiste added: "She was a phenomenal artist, a phenomenal talent.

"She had her own beliefs and she was able to put across all she believed in, in such a great manner.

"Her talent was out of this world. That voice - it is so, powerful it takes you back to moments in life.

"Should she be honoured - absolutely.

"She is deserving of it and she will be, no doubt, by the city of Dublin.
