Russia and Ukraine take heavy losses in land battle

RUSSIA and Ukraine are suffering high numbers of casualties in the early stages of Kyiv’s counter offensive against the invaders, British officials have said.

They added Russia’s losses are probably at their highest level since the peak of the battle for Bakhmut in March.

British intelligence said the most intense fighting has centred on the south-eastern Zaporizhzhia province, Bakhmut and further west in Donetsk province.
