ELECTRICITY bills here are €800 more expensive than the average price across the EU, a new report has found.

The figures show that consumers' annual energy bills are being pushed up because households in Ireland pay 47.12c per kilowatt hour.

That is almost double the European average of 26.34c per kWh and is far in excess of Ireland's 20c per kWh rate from 2020.
