We all know how that panned out so few fans of the Treble winners will have left north London yesterday fearing for their prospects over the next 10 months after a defeat sealed by Arsenal star Fabio Vieira.

In fact, when will it sink in that the Community Shield result is no indicator whatsoever of the title destination? Only once since 2011 has the winning team gone on to become champions of England.

So, yes, it might be tempting to wonder if the loss of Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez, both of whom know where the goal is, could prove City's undoing this term.
