CRYSTAL PALACE legend John Salako reckons Roy Hodgson's return to the club was a "masterstroke".
The Eagles have yet to confirm whether Hodgson will stay on as boss next season after his successful 10-game, 18-point revival job saved them from a relegation fight.
Salako (right) has pinpointed why the 75-year-old was a success, saying he got the best out of star attacking talents Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze and Wilfried Zaha (above, welcoming Hodgson back).
Palace chief Steve Parish is deciding whether Hodgson will stay, although he is the bookies' favourite, ahead of Graham Potter.
Palace were the only side in Europe's top leagues without a win in 2023 when Patrick Vieira got axed in March.
Five wins in 10 games and only two defeats from March onwards saw them climb from relegation trouble to 11th, reach 45 points and overtake Chelsea.
