Smith will become the 15th Australian to reach three figures in terms of Test appearances and he will do it on the ground he played his second match – even though it was not against England.
It was at Headingley against Pakistan in 2010 where Smith (above) scored his first Test 50, batting at No.8 and bowling his leg-spinners, but this will be his first Ashes match at the ground having missed out on Ben Stokes’s 2019 heroics with concussion.
