WALSH PARK reopened at the weekend and will host Munster Championship games next year, in what could be a game changer for Waterford GAA.

The Waterford City ground was in a state of decay, but has been transformed with a new 3,500 capacity uncovered stand on the northern side of the ground opened.

With a new roof and new seats in the existing main stand that brings the total number of seats in Walsh Park to 8,500.

The stadium reopened at the weekend as De La Salle and Roanmore went head to head in the Waterford senior hurling semi-final.

By the time works are finished the capacity is expected to be in the region of 15,000, ideal for National League and club games.
