Another consecutive day of 25C spells a heatwave

MET Eireann could be ready to declare a heatwave if temperatures stay at 25C over the bank holiday weekend.

The national weather service defines a heatwave as five consecutive days of minimum 25C temperatures. A top temperature of 25C was reached for the first time this year at Inagh in Co Clare on Tuesday, while Met Eireann forecast 26C for Wednesday and yesterday and today were again tipped to reach 25C.
