'Women are in danger as killer is on the loose'

THE brother of a woman who was murdered says others remain in danger as gardai try to hunt down a dangerous killer on the loose.

Officers probing the stabbing death of a young Romanian woman in Limerick on Tuesday have renewed their appeals for help.

It comes as the brother of murder victim, Sylvia Roche Kelly, yesterday stated: “The [perpetrator] is not caught yet, which is even worse because it means the public are in danger.”

In 2007, Sylvia Roche Kelly was beaten and strangled in the Clarion Hotel (renamed the Clayton Hotel) Limerick, which is located adjacent to the building where the city’s latest female victim was stabbed to death.

Visiting the stabbing scene yesterday, Ms Roche Kelly’s brother Ger Bourke, 41, said: “What is going on in our community, people are saying this is shocking, but this is a common occurrence.

“My sister was murdered in the Clarion Hotel, Grainne Dillon was murdered in Jury ’s Inn a few years back .”

None of the killings are linked, however Mr Bourke said he was highlighting the murders of women in the area in order to raise awareness about the increasing dangers faced by females.

He said: “What is going on [in society]? Sylvia Roche Kelly was my sister.
