HOUSEHOLDS have been promised annual savings of €500 on energy bills after the launch of a new service by pay-as-you go operator Prepay.
The move from Yuno Energy raised hopes consumers are about to enter a new era of lower prices.
But comparison website Bonkers. ie have ruled that out for now – and warned “households are still facing another very tough winter”.
Yuno Energy yesterday claimed its rate is the market’s cheapest.
Analysts say its tariff of just over 38c per kilowatt hour is lower than other providers but remains “way above European average” and is far ahead of Ireland’s 20c per kWh from 2020.
