DAY OF SHAME

A RALLY yesterday heard calls to "evict the Government" over housing and the rising cost of living.

Around 1,000 people turned out for the protest in Dublin just hours after the eviction ban was lifted leaving thousands with the threat of homelessness hanging over them.

People Before Profit's Richard Boyd Barrett, his voice hoarse after a week of protests, warned, "this is just the beginning", as he took to the stage to address the angry crowd.

He added: "The Government may have won a vote in the Dail but that doesn't mean we are giving up.

"The human consequences of the vile decision they have made are going to roll on and as long as that continues, we will fight.
