ISIS SMITH WILL FOLLOW ISLAM FROM HER CELL

JAILED ex-soldier Lisa Smith will be allowed to say prayers five times a day, as well as being provided with special Islamic food while serving her sentence for being a member of Isis.

The 40-year-old, jailed for 15 months at the Special Criminal Court on Friday, is the first person to be convicted in an Irish court of membership in another country of an Islamic terrorist organisation.

Smith from Dundalk, Co Louth, was brought to the Dochas Centre in the Mountjoy complex in Dublin but it is unclear where she will serve her full sentence.

If she remains in Dublin she will have a much easier time than if she serves her sentence in the State’s only other female prison in Limerick.

Prisoners in the Dochas Centre are accommodated in seven separate houses, each holding up to 10-12 women.
