26 arrests on first day of festival

TWENTY-SIX people were arrested throughout the first day of the Parklife festival at Heaton Park.

The event, which is regarded as the biggest metropolitan festival in the UK, got underway on Saturday with a reported 58,000 attendees. A similar number of revellers was expected yesterday.

On Saturday, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that a total of 26 people were arrested either inside the Heaton Park site, or within the surrounding streets.
