A CONTROLLED explosion was carried out after a stash of artillery shells was uncovered at a war veteran's home in Trafford.
Nicki Connor was clearing out her late father's house in Altrincham on Saturday with family friend Scott Sawyer when she came across the munitions hidden in a plastic tub on the garden patio. She said her dad Daniel Connor MBE, a former Sgt Major and weapons expert in the Royal Artillery, must have collected the shells during his 30-year career in the armed forces.
