FOOD banks serve a critical role in offering relief to individuals and families facing immediate food insecurity, offering a lifeline for those in dire need.
But while food banks alleviate hunger in the short term, they often fall short in addressing the deeper, underlying problems driving food insecurity.
However, one Manchester food bank, Humans MCR, aims to lift people out of hunger through providing a cycle of services beyond emergency food parcels.
Founder Lewey Hellewell, whose own experience relying on food banks left him feeling 'shame' - has set out to change this for others in need.
